On the morning Sept 25, we drove from Boonville to Waterloo, N.Y. where we left the RV at the Moose Lodge so I could drive Jackie to Rochester Airport, for a grandbaby fix while I got to explore Rochester and Syracuse. Two days later, I left Daphne and the RV in the care a fellow WIN, Nora Buchanan, and flew to California. We returned to Waterloo on 29th.
October 1st featured a gorgeous mid-day hike up the canyon at Glen Falls State Park and a lovely drive through the Seneca Lake wine district, before catching up with the WINs in a Wal-Mart parking lot(!) in Dickson City, near Scranton, Pa. Why Scranton? Simply to have a convenient break on the drive to Paramus where there is an Elks Club with a large enough parking lot that we could all stay within an easy commute of Manhattan. However, knowing we had a week of urban touring ahead, several of us took a break to hike a portion of the Appalachian Trail at the Delaware Gap.

Sunday (Oct 3) began a wonderful week in Manhattan. Out hosts, Don and Bonnie Sue, had scouted ahead mapping out public transit options for some days and chartering a bus for others. We made it to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the Empire State Building and the site of the World Trade Center. Most of the group attended a matinee of “Lion King” and four of us got discount tickets for “Hairspray”. We walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, explored Greenwich Village, rode a hansom cab through Central Park and much, much more.
